Electric Vehicles are not "Green" (The movie)

This is a presentation I did for my "Language and Communication: Presentation". For my research project I wanted to determine, based on pollution from the generation of electricity if an electric vehicle was any more environmentally friendly than a comparable gasoline engine.

With current power generation techniques in the US, it's not.

Electric Vehicles are not "Green"

Over the last several years there has been much advancement in the automotive industry around hybrid technology as well as electric vehicles (EVs). There is also a lot of hype in the media around being "Green" or environment friendly. However, research shows that the production and operation of a pure electric car is no better to the environment and produces roughly the same greenhouse gasses as a traditional petroleum powered passenger car; this is because the majority of electricity needed to power an electric car is produced by burning fossil fuels; transmission and storage of electricity for electric cars is inefficient; and the materials used to store electricity for these cars must be mined, refined and shipped before they can be turned into batteries.

One Course down, now I wait

Today my courses opened at Western Governor's University. The first course is designed to take up to 15 days and must be completed within 20 days. So far, I have completed all activities for the first class and can't begin my second class until I speak with my student mentor.

I can review the course requirements, what will be "learned" in a particular class, but I can't actually begin the material until it has been opened.

I was actually still awake at 1AM this morning because I wanted to get started, but alas, it was not available.

Going back to school, starting Saturday

Starting this coming Saturday, October 1st I begin taking classes again at Western Governor's University.

This will be my second attempt at starting a degree at an online university. The first was through Capella. And as I'm writing this blog entry, there is an advert for Capella right here.

The reason I was not successful with Capella was that the course I took was dependent on time spent "in class". As well as dependent on group projects.
