The first pleasure flight after getting the airplane back from maintenance, I decided to go have lunch with my good friend Patrick in Mariposa-Yosemite Airport at the Airport Bar and Grill. A fun short flight from Tracy.

My first lesson to become a Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI). Flying with my friend Mark who is a CFI.

This is my third time riding in the right seat of an airplane, and first time actually trying to provide instructions. Please keep in mind, editing removes a lot of context and Mark is pretending to be a student.

My airplane is still down for maintenance, and in this video I explain that the problem is lifter spalling and what we're doing to repair the airplane. There were some shipping delays and other reasons. In doing research for this video and the repair, I'm finding this is not an uncommon issue on CM engines, and there is a "Service Information Directive SID05-1B" from 2005 and updated in 2016 that explains how to inspect the engine for this sort of abnormal wear http://www.tcmlink.com/pdf2/SID05-1B.pdf

My Cessna Turbo Centurion is still at the aviation mechanic for its annual inspection, waiting for lifters and now a problem during the gear swing.

It's been 5 weeks and my airplane is still in the shop.

I have been itching to get into the air, so I decided to rent from the school and get some practice in.

Will be starting lessons again to earn my CFI.

Since the airplane is still down for maintenance, I decided to go for a motorcycle ride up CA 130, out to the Junction, over Mount Hamilton, and out to the coast. I hope you enjoy.

Decided to take a flight in the Centurion around Half Moon Bay directly over the top of San Jose.
